The Hidden Dynamics of Our Lives

As I read the news, it occurred to me that perhaps some commentary on how the life-purpose system (as expressed in Dan Millman ’s bestselling book The Life You Were Born to Live and shared in the Life Purpose App) affects the lives and destinies of the people we hear and read about so much. After all, after having studied and applied the life-purpose system for over twenty years, I’m deeply moved by its uncanny accuracy and the profound impact it has on each of our daily lives.

What is the life-purpose system? First, let me begin by telling you what it’s not:

  • it’s not a personality-typing system (such as Myers-Briggs), so it won’t predict whether or not a person is introverted, extroverted, calm or neurotic.

  • the life-purpose system doesn’t indicate a person’s level of awareness: two people who have the same life path can express that life path in very different ways. Mohandas Gandhi and Elvis Presley both dealt with integrity issues — one expressed their life path in the positive, while the other lost himself in drugs and addiction — yet they both, in their way, shared considerable charisma that attracted followers.

  • it’s not astrology, either: while it’s based on each person’s date of birth, frankly, we don’t know where the life-purpose system comes from or how it works (one of Dan Millman’s teachers passed it onto Dan, who then tested, applied, and wrote it down in his book, The Life You Were Born to Live).

Then, what is the life-purpose system? The life-purpose system reveals people’s core life lessons as well as innate gifts — if said life lessons are being learned. And, since each person’s life path is based on their date of birth (again, no idea how it works — only that it does), millions of people share the same life paths, and therefore similar life lessons, e.g. lessons about integrity, stability, expression, creativity, etc.

Depending on each person’s level of awareness, life circumstances, as well as on a multitude of other factors, people can learn their life lessons and express their innate gifts in various, multi-faceted ways: Steve Jobs, for example, whose main life path dealt with issues of money, influence, authority, and creativity (of course! 🤦🏻‍♂) built an immensely creative, corporate juggernaut, while Carl Sagan also positively expressed that same life path by influencing millions of people throughout the world through his creative presentations and eloquence.

Daily we read in the news about famous people standing trial in various courts of justice, politicians being held to account in their respective courts of public opinion, and average people experiencing important life lessons in the realms of their daily lives. This blog is about how the life-purpose system can lend clues as to the hidden, underlying motivations and life-lessons that have lead those people to commit the acts that have landed them in the news.

Stay tuned!
